- I need some suggestions and I have no doubt that you ladies can help me. Your entries amaze me,excite me, and inspire me. I have been sewing since I was a little girl, having sons, I did not continue my art through all these years as Julia did with her daughters. Now, my favorite craft is quilting. My older son is getting married to a precious young lady that is fitting into our family like a charm. We are so blessed and thrilled. My husband spent more time and money on her Christmas gift than on anyone else's. She mentioned that she was thinking about having something other than a guest book for her wedding guests to sign. I am searching for ideas of what I could make for her. I have seen pillows, wall hangings, bed quilts. I plan to discuss this with her soon, but would like to have some ideas from the creative perspective to offer as suggestions. I appreciate any input you can give me. Dear Malinda, Since your favorite craft is quilting, how about a memento surrounding that. Guests could write wishes and sign blocks that could be stitched together after the ceremony and the quilt could be presented at a later date, such as their first anniversary. The names could be hand embroidered over (or not) to make them stand out. If your new daughter in law is a crafter or wants to learn to quilt this would be a fun activity you could do together.
I did a quilt for our daughters wedding and for my mom's 80th birthday. The blocks were envelopes and we provided little note cards for people to write on and insert in the different envelopes. Not only did they have a great quilt, but they also had a ton of very touching notes from family and friends.
It was easy to do and quite a hit.
For my parents' 50th anniversary, we put together a little photo book (Kodak, Apple, and Snapfish do these) with pictures from childhoon through current. It was passed around at the celebration and people signed on the pages. This was a big hit!

I agree with Sewfast...a signature quilt seems like the obvious solution!
Here's a different idea (though I love the signature quilt one). Laura and Thomas had a tree print that was just branches, and the guests signed little leaves that were stuck on. They've framed it now (it's about 11x14). If your cousin wants more info about this, I can get you the link for where they bought it (it was an etsy shop).
