One Done!

One sundress done, and 5 more to go! Yes, I said five. There were only four, but when I delivered this one this morning another teacher saw it and wants one for her niece. I know, I said that I wouldn't do another one, but it's hard to say no. I have to get tougher. I think I'll practice, "No, I'm sorry I don't have time." "No, I'm sorry, but I have too many orders already." "No, I'm sorry, but I've already made 6 of these, and I don't want to make any more." "No, I only want to make one-of-a-kind special occasion clothing from now on." Maybe, if I can practice some pat answers like these it will be easier.

My friend seemed very happy with this one. I really like the fabrics and how they went together. I'm having fun coordinating all these different prints.
I'm going to have to get a prettier model for my bonnets. LOL! Smokey is such a cute mascot, though. He even plays "Rocky Top." For those of you who are not college football fans, that is the UN. of TN's theme song.

Back to work! Hummmmm...... I'm not sure I like the sound of sewing being work. I'm rethinking some of my ideas. I think I'm going to take a break from all of this when I get through with this batch of orders. Like I said above, I'm thinking I only want to do "Special Occasion" children's clothes. That was my original idea, anyway. I truly want to do one-of-a-kind things. I do not like doing the same thing over and over.

This afternoon is the May birthday party at the nursing home. They have cake and ice cream to honor all of the residents who have a birthday each month. I'm going to help Mother celebrate hers again.
My FIL is having knee replacement surgery on Tuesday. Please keep him and my MIL, who has alzheimers, in your prayers. Actually, please keep my DH and his siblings in your prayers, too. Thanks!

Julia, I didn't notice before that you are from Tennessee until you mentioned the song that your mascot plays. We used to live in Hermitage (right outside of Nashville), TN. We now live in Spring (right outside of Houston) Texas. We are actually originally from Texas. We just moved to TN for a few years due to my husband's job. We really loved it. It was so beautiful.

Anyway, I know how you feel about sewing the same thing over and over. I don't enjoy that either. It's just not fun anymore. It's a recipe for burnout. But I know it's hard to say no. You'll definitely have to practice what you want to say so that it is natural and you don't get yourself in a pickle.

My family and I will be praying for your family. Hope your mom has a wonderful birthday.

I think you already know; but for the benefit of your readers, I would like to share that my daughter, Emily, who is 8, and I are having a giveaway on our blogs. We have our own individual sewing blogs. We would be honored if everyone would stop by and leave a comment and enter the drawing.

Emily's is: www.sewingsister.blogspot.com

Mine is: www.sewingwithtrudy.blogspot.com

Your sundresses and bonnets are soooo cute Julia. I can see why people would want them. I know what you mean about the "no" word. It's a difficult one to master. Your mouth opens to say "no" but something else comes out! I'll keep your family in my prayers. I love older people. They have answers for all the things I wonder about.

I love the sundress and your bonnets are to die for. I just love them. Do you have a pattern that you use. If so, what is it if you don't mind me asking?

It can be so hard to say no to people! Especially when they say wonderful things about your talents.

Julia, Thank you so much for the compliments.
I know what you mean about sewing the same thing over and over. That was what happened to me when I didn't want to sew bridesmaid dresses anymore, LOL! It just wasn't fun.

Your sundresses are gorgeous! I too love the way the prints all come together and the way the layers flow on the dresses.
I will be keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
