Taking a Break and a giveaway to tell you about

Go here for a great giveaway of a fabulous apron!!!!!  You will love Goosegirl's  blog if you aren't already following it.  She makes the prettiest aprons, outfits for her little one and her teen, costumes for plays, etc.............

I am taking a sewing and blogging break.  I finished all my Christmas sewing, and I'm giving my machine a rest.  Life has been overwhelming, in some ways, over the past few months, primarily with the illness and death of my mom.  It was only a few months ago that we lost my mother-in-law, as well.  We've had staph infections, brain surgery, broken feet and ribs, and all sorts of other things going on in our family.  We have had some real blessings, too!  We've welcomed one new baby and another one is to be born soon.  But, with the holidays approaching, I just think I need a break.

Let me leave you with these photos of MY Barbie wearing a new dress and vest that I crocheted for our granddaughter who will soon be five!  She wants Barbie stuff for Christmas, and she has a birthday soon, so I thought I'd try my hand at knitting and crocheting some little items of clothing.  Boy, does Barbie ever need a new hair style!  I got this doll in 1963!  I also have Ken and Midge.  None of them have clothes anymore, so maybe I should make them some.

I will still be reading blogs and commenting when I get a chance.

I love your Barbie, Julia. How I wish I'd kept mine - she had a platinum bubble cut. I think you deserve a break, my friend. You've had a tough year.

Hugs to you,
Claudia

Hi Julia,
Thank you for posting this! I am so grateful!!

And my goodness, of course you need a break. This has been such a difficult and busy year for you. But I am in awe that you are done with your Christmas sewing. I am barely beginning. The garments you made are spectacular! I am wondering how you manage it all, but you do such a wonderful job. Take a breather and enjoy some peace. I pray the Lord blesses you with an encouraging rest.

Aww, I love your Barbie. Funny that I have all my old Barbie clothes, but none of the dolls. And I think I do have a couple of knitted outfits that my aunt made.

Enjoy your well deserved rest!

Sometimes we need to slow down, take a deep breath and really see how precious life is. I hope you can feed your soul because you are one special person! Enjoy your moments this Thanksgiving. I'm so thankful we've been friends for a few years now. I can remember the first time I posted a comment on your blog. It was about your mother. She's resting in peace watching over her baby girl. I love you Julia!! Be good to my friend/yourself!

Julia,

I adore all the Christmas dresses you made for your granddaughters. They're especially lucky to have a caring grandma who loves to sew for them! I hope your blogging/sewing break provides you with much rejuvenation and that you have a wonderful Christmas.:)

So sorry about your loses this year.. but sounds like the blessings do keep coming in too.
I understand the whole break thing! I go for days.. sometimes weeks without turning the computer on.. I have so much more time to get stuff 'done' that way!! I love my little blog but my time has to be spent doing things! And I'm looking forward to being alot busier the coming year since we bought our land!
Enjoy the break and have a great Christmas!!
