This is a jumper that I made for my friend's niece. She's going to give it to her for Christmas. She found some really cute tights that, I think she said, have giraffes on them. She wanted a khaki corduroy jumper to go with them. I decided that it is as easy to make a reversible jumper as it is to make it otherwise. I would have lined it anyway.
I found this dark khaki and already had the plaid.
Notice the wrinkles and uneven hemline in the above photo. I made binding from the corduroy and used it around the neckline and armholes. That worked well. Then I used it on the hemline. For some reason it just didn't look as good as I wanted. I think the plaid was slightly shorter than the corduroy. For whatever reason, I wasn't happy. So, I just cut the binding off the bottom and simply turned the corduroy over the plaid in a clean finish style. It still gives the look of the binding on the plaid side.
Notice how much more nicely the hemline hangs! The arm holes look a little funky in these photos, but not in person.
I also decided to put a little appliqued birdy on the plaid side. Do you see the difference in the two photos? I first put the little legs on the body completely. Weird. I removed them and lowered them so that you can see them extended below the body a little. I also smoothed out the plaid fabric at the point of the wing where it is puckered in the first photo.
Today, I'm working on the Pocahontas dress for this same little girl for a Christmas gift from her generous aunt.

I love that jumper and the appliqued bird is so cute!!!
Love it - you are super clever!
Adorable! And, yes, having the legs extend does look much better.
That's a very cute little jumper. Nice job, as always.
