We just got home from an adventurous trip to the NE. We saw road signs to Knoxville, Bristol, Abingdon, Blacksburg, Richmond, Winchester, Martinsburg, Hershey, Wilkes-Barre, Port Jervis, New York City, Newburgh, etc.....
While on our trip we saw.....
two of our daughters, their husbands, and four of our five grand children,
fairy houses,
a Princess and the Pea birthday cake that my daughter made,
snakes, frogs, animals from all over the world,
fish,
dinosaur bones,
apples to pick,
and I recovered this couch for my daughter.
It really doesn't look quite this wrinkly in person. Actually, after seeing these photos I adjusted the fabric on the cushions again. I should have taken new picts, but I didn't. I was having too much fun with my grands. I took their Halloween costumes and other little outfits to them. They seemed to like them all.
It wasn't easy to find the fabric for this couch, because we needed so much yardage, but we found an awesome store where all the fabrics are factory overruns, or seconds, or whatever. The fabrics were high quality, but inexpensive!!!! Yea!!!! It looks a little shinier in these photos than it really is. It's very soft and kid friendly. It also, all comes off for a spin in the washing machine. There are zippers in the cushion coverings and the rest, even though a tight fit, will slip off. I stuffed the back cushions so they would be fuller, and I covered the bottom cushions with batting to give a little more shape. This took two days, with half of the first day looking for the fabric. I've never done anything quite like this before so I really didn't know what I was doing or how it would turn out. My grand daughter said that it looked like a rich person's couch. That's the best critique I could ever expect!

Oh you are so skilled! I slip covered a chair pad and that came out twisted on me LOL! How could you do this with no pattern at all? Amazing!
I'm so glad you had a good time! You passed right by our house - or nearby, at least! The slipcover looks absolutely wonderful!
Next time you are driving this way, can you stop by and whip up a slipcover for my chair? Please????
Wow! Your daughter is very creative just like you. I love the fairy house! And the cake! And your slipcover job! I am just in awe. I don't even know what to say.
Welcome Home! Nothing like sleeping in your own bed huh :)
The kids look so cute. I know you enjoyed your moments with them.
The cover came out awesome! Did you find a new business for yourself? LOL I can just see it now if this gets out. Everyone's going to want you to cover their sofa's.
Missed you!
Talent just oozes from your family. Did you see any Pennsylvania signs in your travels? I sure could have used your help:) My grandkids are coming in November and I'll be lucky if I "throw" together a Strawberry Shortcake Party for my grand-daughters 7th b-day.
Love the couch, heck! I'm totally in awe of everything!
P.S. They use to call me the pea princess...Thanks for sharing, Julia:)
That is the cutest cake I've ever seen!!!!! That couch looks awesome now! Great job!
You are so talented. The cake is AWESOME!!!
I was having fun reading your blog until I got to the snakes! Eeek! I live on the water, and we have snakes. Don't like.
You did a beautiful job on that couch. Wow! I'm totally impressed. I imagine you're back in your sewing room turning out more gorgeous stuff! Glad you had a nice vaca.
That is an amazing cake! Your daughter clearly got some talents from you!
The couch looks fantastic. What a savings!
