Yard Work = Poison Ivy and some other stuff

I have been sewing JUST A LITTLE.  Mostly, I've been substitute teaching.  I applied on Monday, two weeks ago yesterday, and started teaching on that Wednesday.  I have only had 1 1/2 days since then that I haven't taught.  On that day and a half, I already had plans.  One of our daughters is coming for a visit over the next few days, so I won't go in while she's here.  I've already promised a couple of teachers a few days in May.  I have enjoyed it, but it has taken me away from my sewing and other things I need to be doing in my house.  I just need to get back in a WORK routine.
Now, for the title of this post.  There was no school on Good Friday, so I did yard work that was LONG overdue!!!!  Now, I have poison ivy!  I've never had poison ivy in my life, and I'll be 59 in less than 2 weeks!!!  I didn't see any poison ivy when I was pulling up weeds, but I wasn't looking for it.  I've never had to look for it.  I will for now on, for sure!  My house looks better, though, so I guess it was worth it.  My muscles screamed at me for a couple of days, too.  It was good for me!  This photo is not from my yard.  I took this at one of my daughter's a couple of years ago.  I just hate to have a post without any pictures.
Now, to the sewing room, to get back in my element.  I've actually made a couple of things for myself, and I'm working on a couple more tops.  I will post photos when I finish.  I've not had a chance to take any photos.

Poison ivy can be such a painful surprise. Good for you for substituting, and good luck on finding that balance between work, sewing, gardening and relaxing.

It sounds like you are really in demand with the substitute teaching. Too bad the hours in the day aren't longer.

Sorry about the poison ivy. Ouch. Iv'e only had it once - when I washed the boys clothing after they had been hiking. It was a lesson well learned.

Sorry about the poison ivy. I've had it a couple of times and contrary to popular belief I got it from my husband! I think we have a patch of it in our backyard. I need to find out how to get rid of it.
I've thought about subbing but I'm not sure my patience is where it would need to be. Still thinking about it though. Glad it's working out for you.

Hope you're itch-free soon! Thank you for the lilac-- I love them so. I have a tree that bloomed for the first time this year. It was a cutting taken from my FIL's tree when they sold thier home in New York. Many said it would not grow here in SE Virginia but it has proven the naysayers wrong! Have a great week; remember to take time for you!

I haven't had poison ivy for years. I'm not sure I'd recognize the plant either. Good thing I'm not big on yard work!

Poison Ivy is terrible. I hope you are on the mend! I got poison Oak once and it was the worst skin condition I've ever had to battle. Thankfully, I haven't gotten it again. Take care. Love the lilac. I miss those too. Absolutely love the smell of them. I planted about 7 of them, all different varieties, about a year before I moved from Oregon. I often wonder how they are doing now. I hope they are big and bringing someone as much joy as they brought me!
